This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses the Services of Hostingoor. It protects our customers, our network and the wider internet. Breaking it may lead to suspension or termination under our Terms of Service.
1. Illegal and harmful content
You must not use the Services to store, send or link to material that is illegal in the United Kingdom or in the country where you are, including:
- child sexual abuse material (we report it to the authorities and the Internet Watch Foundation);
- content that infringes copyright, trade marks or other intellectual property;
- terrorist content, incitement to violence or hatred, or harassment;
- fraudulent, misleading or phishing websites, or sites that impersonate another person or organisation;
- malware, viruses, ransomware or any code designed to cause harm.
2. Email and spam
- Do not send unsolicited bulk or commercial email. Marketing email must comply with PECR and UK GDPR: recipients must have opted in (or fall within the soft opt-in), and every message needs a working unsubscribe link.
- Do not use purchased, rented or harvested mailing lists, or forge email headers.
- Mailboxes are subject to sending limits to protect our servers' reputation.
3. Network and security
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, scan networks, or run denial-of-service attacks.
- Do not run open proxies, open mail relays, IRC bots, or cryptocurrency mining on shared hosting.
- Keep your software (for example WordPress and its plugins) up to date. We may suspend an account that has been compromised and is attacking others until it is cleaned.
4. Fair use of shared resources
Shared hosting is shared with other customers. Do not use a disproportionate amount of CPU, memory, disk input/output or processes, and do not use web hosting as a file-storage, backup or media-streaming service. If your site outgrows its plan, we will contact you to suggest an upgrade before taking action, unless immediate action is needed to protect the server.
5. Reporting abuse
Report abuse to [email protected], with as much detail as you can (URLs, email headers, logs). We investigate every report and act in line with the law.
6. What we may do
We may remove content, limit resources, suspend or terminate Services, and co-operate with law enforcement. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
